Karinchak is quiet in nature but is well liked by teammates. His head whack is also what gave scouts pause about drafting him as a stater. The herky-jerky nature of his delivery may throw off his command but it helps his two pitches play up even beyond their true nature. It’s hard to discern which pitch he’s going to throw because he tunnels them so well and because they tend to tunnel well off of each other. He uses a high, over the top delivery that really aids how he throws those two pitches. His rotation is good, clearing his hips and chest to the plate ahead of his release point. He has as quick knee kick and brings the hands down to it away from his body. It’s his fastball command that holds it back despite its spin and velocity.ĭelivery and Intangibles: The delivery is what really stands out for Karinchak and potentially helps and hurts him. Karinchak has just average command of both, though the command of his breaking ball is better, but the location on that pitch matters less.
